Wellhouse Amateur Football Club (founded on 12th September 1976)

Saturday 8th December 2007:

Wellhouse AFC  3  v  1  The Spartans. 

Wellhouse AFC started fast with some great football considering the weather conditions were horrible with rain, sleet and snow falling the whole game. Wellhouse AFC scored in 8 minutes with great team work and understanding between Zander Simpson and JP Kenna.  JP Kenna put a great pass down the left wing to Zander who then beat his man and fired over a great ball, this was met with a diving header by Craig Smith who headed the ball right in to the bottom corner for Wellhouse AFC to go 1-0 up.  Spartans came right back at us and got a corner kick. They fired over a great corner only for our keeper to punch the ball into his own net to make it 1-1.

10 minutes later JP Kenna split the Spartans defence with a great pass right into the feet of Craig Smith who drew the keeper and then slid the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net to fire home Wellhouse AFC's 2nd goal. 1 minute from half time Toni Thomson hit a screamer from 30 yards right into the top corner of the net to make it 3-1 - this was a spectacular goal.

Spartans did keep the pressure on in the second half but our keeper Paul Burns made 3 brilliant saves within the first 10 minutes but from then in it was all Wellhouse AFC. The final score was 3-1 victory for Wellhouse AFC and a good 3 points.
