Wellhouse Amateur Football Club (founded on 12th September 1976)
Match Reports:
Saturday 9th February 2008:
Wellhouse AFC 0 v 2 Brightons.
This was a bad result for Wellhouse AFC, it was a must win game - but if you cant put the ball in the net you won't win your games! Wellhouse AFC started well in this game. We had a corner kick in the first 2 minutes and Zander Simpson put over a cracker of a ball and which was met by Ricky Tobin with a bullet of a header, but was directed inches over the bar.
Brightons then came into the game and played some good football with a lot of short passes. Brightons put a through ball to there forward, beating our defence and forcing our goalkeeper Paul Burns to came out but the player chipped him from 10yards, giving the goalkeeper no chance. Five minutes later we were attacking the ball and an opening fell to John Geddes who hit it first time and the ball hit the bar (very unlucky - some say john hit it to sweet).
Second half we started well and we should have scored 2 goals as John Geddes once again hit the bar and Craig Smith had a good chance but it was just not our day. We changed our formation by putting 3 up front to try and get something out of this game. Because of this formation change Brightons pushed up and scored a second goal with five minutes to go, putting an end to the game.
