West of Scotland Cup   -  3rd Round

Motherwell Bridgeworks  1  v  2  Wellhouse AFC. 

Wellhouse AFC played a lot of good football.  The park was very heavy as it rained from start to finish.  Zanda tore down the left wing, fired over an excellent cross which hit the under side of the crossbar and came out only for Craig Smith to meet it and head into the net to go 1-0 up. 5 minutes later John Geddes was put through by John Paul Kenna but put the ball inches wide. We had a couple of other chances before half time but couldn't take the chances.  We started the second half the same way we had ended the first half.  John and Craig had a chance to go further ahead but once again we were unlucky as they were hit by the post.
Both of them should have had penalty kicks midway through the second half, but were not given. Zanda Simpson took a corner kick right to the far post and was met by Brian Duncan to head home our second goal. Yet again we had a couple of chances to go further but again no one could put the ball in the net. Motherwell Bridgeworks managed to get a goal back due to an own goal from Mark Young as the ball unlucky hit his boot and headed straight into the net.  This then put ourselves under a bit of pressure. We continued to attack and again the front two had a chance but again failed to end the game but we managed to hold on and take the victory.
