Saturday 19th January 2008:

Wellhouse AFC  2  v  2  Buchanan Thistle 

Wellhouse AFC's first chance came within 10 minutes into the game when Greame Watt hit the post from a cracking shot from about 20yards out, then later on in the game Zanda Simpson hit the bar from 16 yards so we could have been two up mid way through the first half.  however, Toni Thomson scored from 7 yards out when he sent the full back and the goal keeper the wrong way to slide home the first goal.  This is when Wellhouse AFC picked up their game and started to play some good football.

Second half Wellhouse AFC started well and took the game to them.  Our keeper’s kick out was won in the air by Davy Fisher who header it onto Greame Watt who then passed the ball to Toni Thomson who fired over a great ball across the box and was met by our full back Brian Duncan who fired right into the corner of the net giving the keeper no chance to save it.
Wellhouse AFC missed a chance with 20 minutes to go.  Buchanan Thistle pulled one back from a crazy goal and a mistake by our full back Mark Young (who until this point had a great game). He tried to run the ball out of the park and the winger nipped in and took the ball off him and hit a cross come shot (I don’t know what he tried but it finished in the back of the net) as our keeper Paul Burns had no chance of saving it.  Things got worse as 5 minutes later they scored a very good goal to make it 2 each.  The last 5 minutes was all Wellhouse AFC and we should have had a stonewall penalty kick when there big centre half put the ball out for a corner with his hand but the referee only gave a corner kick. The game ended 2 goals each.
