Brightons  1-3  Wellhouse AFC

What a start to the premier division.  Wellhouse played brilliant and scored 1 minute before half time - and what a goal! Wee Scott McArthur beat two players and flew down the wing (they even tried to put him out the park) crossed over a great ball but the goal keeper pushed the ball out but only to Peter Gordon who scored from close range.  Second half started the same way - about 10 minutes into the second half we put through a good ball into there box but the keeper came out to clear and hit the ball to the half way line.  Graeme Watt kept his eye on the ball.  Graeme hit the ball on the bounce and the ball flew right into the back of the net (it went past the keeper who was trying to get back.  Some Goal - the third goal was scored by Peter Gordon -another good goal and good passing between Zanda to Graeme who hit a low ball towards the goal but was assisted into the net by Peter Gordon who scored with a fancy flick

Wellhouse AFC  4-2  Colville Park

We were 3 goals down in 25mins in this game. Our first goal was a free kick just inside Colville Park's half.  John Hughes put a good ball into there box and was met by Ricky Tobin with a good header which flew into the back of the net - ending the first half 3-1.  Second half provided 2 good goals, Wellhouse produced another fine move when Graeme Watt set up Lewis Stewart who hit a cracker from 25 yards into the top corner. Minutes later Zanda Simpson hit a cracking shot from 20 yards top corner all the way until the big keeper got his finger tips to the ball put over the bar.  It looked as if the game was going to end 3-2 until the last few minutes we made a mess of a free kick and Colville Park got the ball back, ran through into the box where our goal keeper pulled the player down providing Colville Park with a penalty kick for which they scored to make it 4 – 2 to colville park.

Redbrae  2-3  Wellhouse AFC

Again after 25 min we were 2 goals down to a good Redbrae side who had taken there goals well.  We tried hard to get into the game, the come back came in the second half with the first goal being set up by Zanda Simpson who moved into the middle of the park to get the ball - once he got it he took on 3  or 4 players as if they were not there (just out side there 18 yard box) he split there back 4 wide open with a pass to Lewis Stewart who beat the full back drew the goal keeper, went round him and slid the ball home to make it 2–1.  Minutes later we got a free kick just inside the Redbrae half.  John Hughes took the free kick and with a good ball into there penalty box Lewis Stewart twisted his head to get the ball and flick it into the net  to make it 2 – 2.  It was all Wellhouse and about 10 minutes later Zanda flew down the left wing to about a yard from the bye line he hit a low and hard shot and it flew right across the goal and finished up in the bottom corner of the net - scored the winning goal on his birthday not bad

Eddlewood  1-1  Wellhouse AFC

It was all end to end for the full 90 minutes - even Hugh Carswell, Scotland Amateur Manager, passed remarks about the game being one of the best he has seen for a long while.

I must say that Eddlewood are some football side and the football they play was brilliant (the passing I have not seen for a long while)

Eddlewood scored first around the 38th minute with a good move.  Second half started the same way with both teams going at each other, making plenty of chances with both goal keepers on top form.  Our manager then made the change by taking off Toby and put on Scott McArthur.  About 10 minutes later Graeme Watt put a good ball down the wing to Scott who flew past the defender fired over a good ball to Peter Gordon who headed the ball down to Craig Halliday to fire home from 6 yards to make it one each.  Both teams went for the winner but it finished 1-1 each.

We must thank Eddlewood's management team for supplying lovely after match hospitality.

Saturday 30th August 2008 - league cup

Wellhouse AFC  4-2  Elderslie

Started well in this cup tie went 1- 0 in 15 minutes but the away team got one back - our goal was scored by Kevin Turner good goal.  Our second goal was scored by Craig Halliday with a free kick about 20 yards out - top corner of the net.  5 minutes later Elderslie scored with a cracking shot from 30 yards out (there midfield player hit a belter to make it 2-2.)  10 minutes into second half Kevin ran down the wing and scored from 25 yards and George Scott got his usual goal from 10 yards

Wednesday 3rd September 2008 - League Match

Eastfield Utd 1-4 Wellhouse AFC

Wellhouse AFC played very well during this match. Kevin Hunter had an exceptional game by scoring 3 magnificent goals and to finish everything off Peter Gordon scored a peach of a 4th goal.

Saturday 6th September 2008 - League Cup

Brightens 2 v 3 Wellhouse AFC

Wellhouse AFC made it very hard for ourselves by providing Brightens with a penalty kick within the first 7minutes, but Marc McGeough made a great save from a well hit shot. This was the shake we required and on the 33rd minute Kevin turner crossed a great ball which was met by a great header from Ricky Tobin. Brightens got the goal back before half time to make it 1-1

In the second half Kevin put Wellhouse in front once again with a great shot from 25 yards which found its way into the top corner.  Davy Fisher then scored with a header from 20 yards to go 3 -1. Brightons however pulled another goal back due to a mix up between Brian Duncan and Marc McGeough, the goal keeper.

Saturday 13th September 2008 - League Cup

Wellhouse AFC 2 v 2 Campsie Minerva

Again we lost the first goal to not a bad side, but managed to pick ourselves up and got the goal back in 20 minutes through Ricky Tobin.  This was created with a free kick just in our half which was fired in by Graeme Watt into there penalty box.  Kevin and Ricky both went for the same ball and I think Toby got the last touch to put into the net.  Unfortunately Marc McGeough was taken off in 25 minutes with groin strain big Davy Fisher went into goal and did not half a safe to make.  The second half was a bit better as we started to play a bit better and were rewarded with our second goal well into the second half thanks to Peter Gordon's cracking goal from 30 yards which found the top corner.  Campsi  Minerva's goal was an own goal - a good cross came over and Chris Cameron tried to clear the ball but just came off his head and right into the top corner, the goal keeper had no chance. The game ended 2-2 but Wellhouse AFC went thru to the 1/4final by goal difference.

Saturday 20th September 2008 - League Cup (1/4 finals)

Wellhouse AFC 0 v 3 Steins Thistle

Wellhouse AFC had enough chances in the first half to put the game by Steins Thistle.  We had 7 players missing for this one but that is not an excuse as we had a team good enough to win the game.  This game was a game of two halves because Steins Thistle came out and played the better football beating our off side trap and going ahead.  it was not too long until Steins scored their second goal - making Wellhouse collapse.  The third goal to Steins put the game way beyond us.

Can I take this opportunity to wish Steins Thistle the best of luck in the cup (especially when this is the first time they have beaten Wellhouse AFC at Stepford Road)

Saturday 4th October 2008 - Scottish Cup (2nd Round)

Wellhouse AFC 6 v 0 Shawlands FP

To follow

Saturday 11th October 2008 - League Match

Harestanes 6 v 1 Wellhouse AFC

What a shocker of a game we never played at all.  Our goal keeper was called away after 5 minutes as his wife was in labour and we had to put in Davy Fisher into goals. Davy done his best and we held out until 10 minutes before half time then it all changed.  Second half was just a shocker!!  Enough said.

Saturday 18th October 2008 - West of Scotland Cup

Wellhouse AFC 0 v 6 Bannockburn

To Follow

Saturday 1st November 2008 - Scottish Cup (3rd round)

Cambusbarron Rovers 5 v 0 Wellhouse AFC

Another poor result for the club.  It was nearly a no go as we were struggling for a team - again no goal keeper so we done well to hold the rovers for a long while.  Cambusbarron Rovers scored within the first couple of minutes and added a second 10 minutes into the game.  The second half got worse as Davy Fisher got sent off with a double caution.  Cambusbarron tied up the leg with another 3 goals in the last 15 minutes.

Saturday 8th November 2008 - League Match

Drumchapel Utd 6 v 1 Wellhouae AFC

Another bad day but we are trying hard to get a decent team but finding it very hard.  Wellhouse AFC missed a good chance in the first minute then to make matters worse Drumchapel Utd got a penalty kick.  Although Marc made a great save, the second ball let us down again!!  From then on in it was all down hill for Wellhouse AFC- Drumchapel Utd played great football and yet again we suffered a big defeat
